FUTURE BODY//SYNTHETIC TAKEOVER

Wood scaffolding, latex fabric, grommets, suction bubble tubing, Arduinos, peristaltic pumps, submersible pumps, dyed water, vegetable oil, 72in x 96in x 96 in, 2022

This work exploits and violates the interior and exterior surfaces of the human body, rendering them in a large scale sculptural installation. The tubing repeatedly pierces through the latex skin, continuously pulsing through the work. FUTURE BODY//SYNTHETIC TAKEOVER depicts the triumph of the synthetic over the natural. The piece references an interior turned exterior, a body in decay, unable to support itself and dependent on machine.
