CELLULAR BODY

Neon, Latex fabric, plywood, wooden dowels, sculpted glass, 36in x 40in x 3in, 2022

This work explores the appearance of skin cells under a microscope and fabricates them into a mixed media, abstracted wall installation. This piece investigates the stylization and translation of the microscope slide in order to create a more readable result for the general public. Neon suits this project as a bright, stylized medium often used in graphic signage and installation. This work acts in conjunction with a body of work that explores the various systems of the human body, rendering them in a way that is new and unfamiliar to the viewer.
