About

Lauren Aria (she/they) is an artist and scientific glassblower currently based in Philadelphia, PA, investigating the corporeal impacts of an innovative and synthetic world. Lauren received her BFA from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2022 with focuses in glass, neon, and video. She received the 2022 Windgate–Lamar Fellowship Award from the Center for Craft in Asheville, NC, leading to her first solo exhibition, FUTURE BODY

Lauren began her career as a Research Glassblower at the UW-Madison Glass Shop, designing and fabricating custom glassware for all departments on campus. Her art practice has been heavily influenced by the processes of cutting-edge research and design, and the close contacts she developed with scientists and engineers in her professional work.

Lauren has been a resident artist at Salem Art Works, and has shown her work at venues including the Chazen Museum of Art, the Pittsburgh Glass Center, and the Shanghai Museum of Glass. Today, Lauren continues making work at her studio in Philadelphia, PA, and teaching scientific glassblowing at Brooklyn Glass in NYC.
