FUTURE BODY//SYNTHETIC TAKEOVER

Wood scaffolding, latex fabric, grommets, suction bubble tubing, Arduinos, peristaltic pumps, submersible pumps, dyed water, vegetable oil, 72in x 96in x 96 in, 2022

FUTURE BODY//SYNTHETIC TAKEOVER trespasses the boundaries between synthetic and natural, where the machine becomes the sustaining force of a body in decay. The tubing, a transport system of plasmatic fluid, pulses through the latex skin, driven by the buzzing, mechanical motor of multiple peristaltic pumps working in congruence. This work investigates the morbid realities of rendering an interior turned exterior, violating boundaries of the body. The resulting artificial, plastic dystopia produces a sense of intellectual dis-ease, questioning the point when the synthetic overtakes the natural.
