I AM THE POTATO, I EMPTY THE CHAMBER, I FAIL TO RETAIN, THE MATERIAL EXPELLED
Performance documented in video, 13 minutes 39 seconds, 2021
I am the potato… investigates the breakdown of boundary between body and material, with honey as a fluid stand-in for molten glass. In this performance, I empty the chamber of honey onto a piece of sheet glass, then press my hands, mouth, face, and body onto the sheet in a futile attempt to consume and retain the fluid pooled in front of me. I am the potato in the furnace, which acts as the agitator to blend color together within the pot. Throughout this performance, I burn myself up, creating a homogenized mixture between my own skin and the untouchable hot glass.
